The word is .....brilliant. Mr. Yash Chopra, famously known as the king of romance,along with Salim-Javed, had given us the opportunity to witness one of the famous showdown between two brothers... Although, the viewer knows that Vijay(AB) is a smuggler and never hesitates before breaking the law, still then his eyes gets wet as Vijay dies in his mother's arms.Vijay says.."Ma main thak gaya hun...mujhe neend aa rahi hai........." In 1993, another son died in his mothers' arms..uttering the same lines. This time, vijay became ajay. SRK stole the show, with his portrayal of a cruel,ruthless yet vulnerable killer, who is determined to avenge his family. Both AB and SRK displayed an under-rated character, who rose up to the challenges of life,only to achieve their targets.
Deewar showed us the agony of the lower-middle class of India. A mother trying to support her family of two sons, because her husband ran away. Her elder son fights a battle with god, as he feels god is the culprit behind their situation. Her youngest son,a police officer, who is torn between his duty to society and his love for his brother. These scenes have been etched in our minds.
And ..who can forget those lines..."Mera Baap Chor Hai"...A son who is victimized for his father.
A son, who can never forget that his father ran away, without thinking of his family. A son who thinks he has everything in this world...but is shattered when his brother declares .."Mere Paas Ma Hai..................". A son who has never been to the temple,but for her mothers' love, he faces god and says..."Aaj...khush to bahut hoge tum !!" It was AB all the way. Being an ardent fan of SRK, i hate to say this...but it seems Mr. Khan has a lot to do, before he can give competition to the original "Shehanshah" !
At last.....but not the least........."Main aaj bhi pheke hue paise nahi uthata................."
